The American Dog Trainers Network is the creation and life's work of Robin Kovary
who passed away January 6, 2001. She gave her spirit, care, concern, expertise, and
time to this endeavor. Robin was a contributor to many humane causes and to all living
things. She went out of her way to help virtually anyone who needed help, and at any cost
to herself. This website is a reflection of her giving spirit: It is her gift to us, her
contribution to dogs, and her legacy.

Robin Kovary has been training dogs and counseling owners for more than 17 years,
and was voted "Best Dog Trainer" for the past two years by Manhattan File magazine.
Robin is devoted to helping dogs and their people, and believes that dog training
can and should be fun for all parties involved. She was a co-founding member of the
Society of North American Dog Trainers, is a charter member of the Association of
Pet Dog Trainers, and currently directs the Canine Resource and Referral Helpline,
and the American Dog Trainers Network.
Robin is a member of the a Dog Writer's Assoc. of America. She is the author of
From Good Puppy, To Great Dog!, and The Dog Owner's Guide to Successful Housetraining,
and is currently working on 3 other books. Articles by her and about her work have
appeared in numerous local, national and international publications.
She co-starred in the video Children, Dogs and Safety for the Geisenger Foundation,
and has been a guest on scores of television and radio programs throughout the United
States, Europe and Japan. She has also served as an agent and handler for TV, film and
Robin Kovary is a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a member of the
Delta Society, Therapy Dogs International, and Therapy Dogs Incorporated. An active
animal assisted therapy coordinator and volunteer for more than 10 years, she was
responsible for introducing animal assisted therapy programs to St. Lukes/Roosevelt
Hospital Center and the Young Adult Institute.
1n 1987, Robin co-founded the New York City Coalition for Dogs, a not-for-profit
group whose primary goal was to establish enclosed, legal dog runs throughout NYC.
She was instrumental in getting dog runs established throughout many areas of Manhattan,
and has assisted in helping many communities in other areas of the country as well.
She shares her home with a Bullmastiff, Shiva (Buckshorn Guardian Angel, ATTS, CGC);
a German Shepherd-Alaskan Malamute, Truckie (Truck Cayenne, ATTS), and an American
Staffordshire Terrier, Ava (Kovary's Angelic Aviator).
